We're Not a Tampa Shop

Shaddai Barbershop has one location: 11892 Illinois St Unit 2, Dunnellon, FL. That's about 80 miles north of Tampa — roughly an hour and a half each way on I-75 and US-41, longer in traffic. There are great barbers in Tampa. But this page is for the specific group of Tampa-area clients who already choose to make the trip — people who have family in the area, grew up coming to this shop, or are building the cut into a bigger trip north. The distance doesn't change; what changes is whether that distance already fits into your life.

This page exists because there's a specific group of Tampa-area clients we do see regularly, and we want to be straight about who they are and why they make the trip — instead of writing copy that pretends Dunnellon is around the corner from Brandon or South Tampa. It isn't.

Who Actually Makes the Trip

The Tampa-area clients who come up to Dunnellon for a haircut almost always fall into one of three groups, and the trip almost never exists in isolation.

Clients who grew up in the area. A meaningful number of our Tampa-side regulars grew up in Dunnellon, Ocala, or somewhere in Marion or Citrus County, moved south for work, and never switched barbers. The cut they've been getting for years is the cut they want to keep getting. When they're already heading back up to see family — parents in Dunnellon, kids visiting grandparents — the haircut is part of the routine. It's the same reason people drive past three coffee shops to get to the one they actually like.

Clients with family in the area. Plenty of Tampa-area clients have parents, siblings, or kids living in Dunnellon, Rainbow Springs, or the surrounding towns. The haircut gets booked on the same trip — Saturday morning chair, lunch with family afterward. Sometimes it's a multi-generation visit: dad coming up from Tampa, son already living in Dunnellon, both in the chairs back-to-back.

Clients building the trip around the area. Rainbow Springs State Park, the Rainbow River, Crystal River for the manatees, antiquing in downtown Dunnellon — Tampa Bay residents drive up for these regularly. When the trip is already on the calendar, adding a haircut to the morning is a low-cost upgrade to the day. We're not the reason for the trip; the trip is the reason the haircut is realistic.

The Drive, Honestly

From most of Tampa Bay you're looking at roughly 80 miles to the shop. Run I-75 north, exit toward Ocala, cut west on State Road 40 into Dunnellon. From South Tampa or St. Pete plan on closer to two hours with traffic. From Wesley Chapel, Lutz, or Carrollwood it's shorter — call it ninety minutes door to door. From Brandon or Riverview, somewhere in between.

That's a real drive, not a quick swing. We'd rather you build it into a half-day plan than treat it as a normal local errand. Booksy ahead of time isn't optional for a trip this long — the chair has to be locked in before you leave Tampa or the math doesn't work.

Tampa-to-Dunnellon FAQ

Do you have a barber shop in Tampa, FL?

No — we don't have a Tampa location. Our only shop is in Dunnellon, FL, roughly 80 miles and about 1.5 hours north of Tampa via I-75 and US-41. We're not a local Tampa barber, and we don't want to pretend we are. The Tampa-area clients we see are people who specifically travel up for the shop — usually because they grew up coming here, have family in the Dunnellon area, or planned the visit around something else in the region.

Why would someone from Tampa drive an hour and a half for a haircut?

Most of the time they wouldn't, and we wouldn't tell you to. The Tampa-area clients we do see almost always have a reason that has nothing to do with the haircut alone — they're already coming up to visit family, they grew up in the Dunnellon area and still consider this their shop, or they're heading to Rainbow Springs / Crystal River anyway and add the cut to the trip. If you live in Tampa and your local barber is consistent, stay with them.

Are you opening a Tampa location?

No Tampa location is currently planned or under construction. The focus stays on the Dunnellon flagship. If that ever changes, we'll announce it on Instagram (@shaddai_barbershp) first.

If I'm already coming up to the Dunnellon area, how do I book?

Booksy is the easiest route — online twenty-four seven, with the full service list and live pricing. Or call the shop direct at (352) 659-4714. For a trip that long, booking ahead is the only sensible move so the chair is guaranteed when you arrive.

Do you speak Spanish?

Yes — every barber on the team is bilingual in English and Spanish. If Spanish is your stronger language, the consultation runs in your first language and the cut comes out closer to what you actually pictured.

What services make sense to book if I'm making the trip?

If you're driving an hour and a half each way, it's worth booking more than a shape-up. Most destination-visit clients book a full haircut plus beard work, or a grooming package that bundles cut, beard, and shave into one longer chair block. Booksy shows the exact length and pricing for each service.

Already Heading Up to the Area?

Lock the chair in on Booksy before you leave Tampa — for a trip this long, walking in isn't the move.
